TURNING HEADS IN THE GIN CATEGORY
Brand Identity, Illustration, Packaging, Advertising & Promotional Items
Hooting Owl is a small batch, single-shot distilled London Dry Gin hailing from the historic village of Barmby Moor at the foothills of the Yorkshire Wolds. Each gin is inspired by a different region of Yorkshire and is distilled using at least 15 botanicals.
Created by Dominic M’Benga in 2017, the name Hooting Owl is inspired by a golden owl sculpture that sits above the entrance to the manor house where the gin is distilled. The original bottle labels showed an illustration of a victorian gentleman with an owl head - he even had a name - Sir Owlfred Tyton Hodgins. ATTFIELD rationalised this idea by creating a backstory for Sir Owlfred which tied him to the Hooting Owl recipe and production as well as the location. For the branding and packaging we created a compelling illustration that wove the botanicals used in the the distillation into his coat and made a bespoke logotype that sat on his chest.
If you would like to read the full story of Sir Owlfred please visit the Hooting Owl website. Why not pick up a bottle while you’re there? We may be biased but it’s definitely the best gin we’ve ever tasted.
