DELICIOUS BRANDING FOR ONE OF THE UK’s ORIGINAL TOFFEE SHOPS

The Toffee Shop, near the Lake District in Penrith, is one of the UK’s oldest and best Toffee Shops with high profile admirers including Lord Lichfield and the Royal Family. The Toffee Shop was opened by Mrs Annie Furnass in 1910 and has been dedicated to producing the finest handmade fudge and toffee ever since.

The original branding for The Toffee Shop consisted of a generic typeface, which over time had accrued 3 variations and was starting to look a little tired. The packaging was also fairly basic and didn’t allow for product differentiation. ATTFIELD set about crafting a handmade brandmark which evoked the toffee making process and gave the brand a sense of movement and deliciousness, whilst also balancing tradition with modernity. The variant patterns on the box sides are inspired by art deco patterns from the period when The Toffee Shop first achieved notoriety.
